Your Sin Will Find You Out

“Your Sin Will Find You Out” is a novel by Jay Tepe. Jay was one of the sponsors of my old youth group when I was in eighth grade. He is also one who, like me, enjoys playing the guitar and singing. This is his first novel, but he’s already has another one ready- “Reap the Whirlwind” with a tornado theme (and they just experienced that awful tornado in Jay’s hometown of Joplin, MO!)  If this first story does well then he could continue on in the production of novels, and I hope that will be the case. Let me tell you a little bit about this one, and maybe you could pick up your own copy to read, and that way support my friend, Jay’s dreams!

From the back cover:

A dream-come-true turns into a nightmare…

When Frank Hollander moves his family from a small Illinois town to Milstot, a suburb of Chicago, it seems like a lifelong dream come true. They move into a beautiful old house, the boyhood home of Chicago’s most powerful business mogul – Leonard Kingsley.

While moving in Frank discovers a hidden room in the attic above the garage and in that room evidence of a terrible crime. Could it be connected to a thirty-year-old cold murder case? Frank, with the help of a local police detective and a new friend with CIA connections, starts poking around to solve the case. As the evidence piles up, could the police be closing in on the real killer? Or could there be more powerful forces at work pulling the strings?

Even when wheels turn slowly God is in control…

Even as Frank is trying to get his family settled into their new life, the horrible history of the house is revealed. Can God really use him to help right the wrongs done so long ago? All he can do is constantly be in prayer for the case to be solved and God’s will to be done. Things aren’t resolved as quickly or as simply as he’d like and it is in that realization that he learns that life is run on God’s timetable – not his. Frank comes to have a deeper appreciation for just how much God loves us all – even those who commit terrible crimes against others.

While I was interested in reading this book because of my connection with the author, I really can say that I enjoyed it a lot. The quirkiness of the main character was quite entertaining. It was a fast and fun read. It was not so predictable. One admirable trait that I appreciated in both Jay and his character, Frank, is his devotion to the Lord and a Christian witness without being an “in-your-face” sort of Christian. All in all, this novel is a great encouragement to anyone, especially folks who may be grappling with the mysteries of God. Like he wrote on the cover: God uses seemingly ordinary circumstances to accomplish His will. I think you should give this story a read and see if some of Frank and Mary’s faith rubs off on you.
