Dolly and the Hurricane (s)
July 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Well, they keep saying here in Brownsville, that it’s the year that we’ll get hit. This it was. I however, was not around to experience Dolly’s fury. I was in San Antonio at the convention. Of course at night we were glued to the weather channels on TV, and when the phones in the Rio Grande Valley worked, we’d talk to friends back home and stay updated. The convention attendees knew that we were from Brownsville, so they also were informed and prayed for the Valley and Mexico as well. The first night they asked if we (our praise band, leading the worship times) had a name. I told them that we did not, but they could call us “Dolly and the Hurricanes”. It stuck. Our drummer with his big, cool hair was even pegged as Dolly. I don’t know if he liked that, but that’s what went down. Here’s our only band picture (as we arrived saftely back home).

Sermonspice Español (Spanish Spice)
July 26, 2008 · Leave a Comment
I was in San Antonio for the Convención Nacional Cristiana last week. I was pleased to be raising awareness in this place with fellow ministers from all over the country about the great resource that is Sermonspice Español. It is a passion of mine to help our Spanish-speaking churches get on board with today’s technology and not get left behind in this important medium. So I had a little table set up, with brochures, and coupon codes for those attendees, and a few T-shirts to give away. It was fun! I think it was well recieved, because today I noticed several new sales in the spanish department, and I’m surely not the only producer that got these hits. I’m going to do the same in November at a different convention and I will plan on presenting at some Ministerial Alliances. I was able to show a lot of my work at the convention while many of the youth were waiting for programming to start. Over all it was a good experience.

SermonSpice is the best!
July 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment
I don’t just say that because I’m a producer there. I say it because they are the largest and best of all distributors of Christian shorts. Go check out their wide selection today. Also, they are the only company I’ve seen that has an entire Spanish department. Way to go sermonspice! Keep up the great work.

Chicken Scratch Storyboards
July 9, 2008 · Leave a Comment
Storyboarding is very helpful in planning a shoot. It gets you to imagine the scene ahead of time and plot the shots in sequencial order. It’s helpful for both the filming stage and in editing. Here for example is a chicken scratch storyboard for a 1 min. video for our beattitudes series. I did it pretty quickly and made a highlighted code so I could know what shots to film, before changing the tripod location. This way I could be consistent and have a quick turn-around. You can see how I checked off each shot before moving on, so that I could know that I had it all before capturing. I think I shot a couple of other things, but ended using basically what was storyboarded. You can see the finished product here: http://www.sermonspice.com/videos/18998/pure-is-better
